The Health Foundation of Cook County Appoints Dr. Knitasha Washington as Interim Executive Director to Lead Strategic Transformation

The Health Foundation of Cook County (HFCC) today announced the appointment of Dr. Knitasha V. Washington, DHA, FACHE, as Interim Executive Director. Dr. Washington will lead the Foundation during the Foundation’s transition period, leading implementation of the Foundation’s updated strategic direction while partnering with the Board of Directors to prepare the organization for its next chapter of growth and impact.
Her appointment comes as the Foundation advances a multi-year transformation to strengthen its philanthropic impact, modernize its operating model, deepen community and donor partnerships, and further support Cook County Health’s mission of improving the health and well-being of Cook County residents.

Every day nearly 2,000 people arrive at Cook County Health in need of care.
What they all have in common is that they are sick or injured and need quality care. Many have few, if any, financial resources. Cook County Health’s clinics and hospitals are the only health care services that welcome everyone regardless of their ability to pay. Over 80% are from communities of color.
